The big difference between Swarbrick and Twain, is that Swarb can still use that story as a killer bit of stand-up comedy, unlike his predecessor . . . sorry 'bout that, I just couldn't pass that one up, must be this uncommon oppressive tropical heat . . . that's 'life on the Mississippi' here in the North Country.

Snori, I sensed that your feelings were as you described so well, and I concur.

I'll never get my head around the concept of any of these kinds of awards or recognising some one for the good work that many others may do just as well. Politics be damned! I know that since he received his OBE, Martin has not changed his values or politics one bit, and I can't imagine that Richard will change his ways either. I guess I'm just happy that that someone in 'the establishment' is paying attention, and can recognise these true talents and their service to their country regardless of how outspoken they may be, or that they may come from 'a different class of folk'. As I get older, I guess events like this leave me with more of a feeling of hope than anything else.

It's an interesting subject DP, and I've enjoyed our two-day conversation.
